Pay to Date or Date for Free: Truth or Fiction?
Feb 07, 2014

All too often Filipino women are stereotyped to make simple, obedient, caring, and family-oriented wives. That’s why it’s no big surprise when the keyword “Filipina”, when entered into an online search,  will yield many dating websites catering specifically to men in search of Filipinas for love, friendship, and marriage. Most would argue that there’s nothing wrong with using dating websites to find life partners with the qualities mentioned above, and they would be right.   There is nothing wrong with it.
Most dating websites are legal, although some are not legitimate.  What I mean by that is too many are filled with  Filipinas who may not even know their photos are there, being used to entice unsuspecting men to join these sites.  These men are lured into spending large amounts of their cash for membership fees in hopes of developing a relationship with a woman whose photo they have seen.  That woman may or may not actually be a real member of that site.   Many of these websites are hiring people to exchange written messages with these men in order to get the guys to "upgrade" their memberships, which make these sites a lot of money.  After the guy has been lured into upgrading, then the Filipina he was interested in disappears.   Her profile just vanishes from the site, and when he asks the site, "why", then he is given some lame excuse.   The excuse may be that she removed her profile without reason, or that she was removed by site management, although when asking then what that reason was, they will never be given an explanation.  The truth is that the person who the man thought he was communicating with was a fake profile, and that profile was there just to lure men to upgrade their memberships so the site could make more money.   Another drawback is that some of these fake profiles are from scammers who are also trying to get the man's money.  If the man eventually insists on a video chat, then that "girl" will also disappear from the site.  The scammer may have multiple profiles using a variety of different photos they have obtained from other online sources such as facebook.
On the other side of that coin are the honest and legitimate Filipinas who join the dating pool out of their own free will. Some will find their mates, and those will be highlighted by the site to illustrate how upright and honest the website is.
That doesn’t discount the fact that most of these dating websites capitilize on the exoticized Filipina. Dating websites don’t spring out of the woodwork and match people around the world out of the goodness of their hearts, do they?   A few do (like Christian-Pilipina),  but most are in the business of selling a product, and their products happen to be Filipina ladies.
So buyer beware because the reason you may be enticed to pay a fee to meet someone whose photo you are attracted to, that profile may not be true...it could be a fake.   Best wishes to you all, and God bless you in your search for a mate.
